Surface restoration
One gouged board by the door does not justify refinishing an entire room. We repair the damaged spot and match the color to the floor that is already there.
Symptoms
Localized damage, fixed locally. Full refinishing is a different trade and usually an unnecessary one.
Filled and blended into the surrounding finish rather than sanded across the whole room.
A dropped tool or a heavy leg takes a piece out.
Common near dishwashers and refrigerators.
Someone patched a board with the wrong stain.
Replaced or rebuilt in place, which is dramatically cheaper than pulling and relaying a floor.
Repaired or replaced on its own, with the grout matched to the rest.
How it works
One of the whole floor and one close-up of the damage, ideally in daylight so the color reads true.
We look at the floor and give you the exact price before any work starts.
The fix happens on site. Color matching is the part that decides whether a repair disappears or announces itself.
Most localized repairs are walkable the same day, unlike a full refinish that puts a room out of action for days.
Pricing
Every floor repair is priced after an on-site inspection, because the price depends on the floor, the type of damage and the area involved. We look at it and give you the exact price before any work starts.
Daylight photos help us plan the color match and bring the right materials. Contact us to schedule an inspection and receive an on-site estimate.
Localized repair
The default quote for a damaged floor is to sand and refinish the entire room. Sometimes that is right. Far more often the damage is one board, one scratch or one worn band by a doorway, and refinishing means days of dust barriers, an unusable room, and paying to redo eight hundred square feet of floor that had nothing wrong with it.
Localized repair does the opposite. The damaged area is rebuilt, shaped and finished, then color-matched to the boards around it. Done properly the repair reads as part of the floor. Done badly it reads as a bright patch, which is why color matching is the part of this job that actually matters and the part that separates a good repair from an obvious one.
The most common calls we get in San Diego are water damage near dishwashers and refrigerators, scratches from furniture and dogs, and chips from dropped tools during other renovation work. Appliance leaks are worth mentioning specifically: we repair appliances as well, so when a failing dishwasher has taken out the boards in front of it, both halves of that problem get handled by the same visit rather than two trades blaming each other.
If you can, send photos in daylight before the visit. Floor color is notoriously hard to judge under warm indoor lighting, and an accurate read on the tone is what lets us arrive with the right materials.
We cover San Diego, La Jolla, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach, Carlsbad and nearby areas.

Questions
Yes, and that is most of what we do. A single board is rebuilt or replaced in place and color-matched to its neighbors, which costs a fraction of refinishing a room and leaves the rest of the installation untouched.
Close enough that the repair is not the thing you notice when you walk in. On patterned and mid-tone floors matches are effectively invisible; very pale or very uniform floors are the hardest, and we tell you that before starting rather than after.
Hardwood and tile are the bulk of our work. Send photos on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether your specific floor is a job we can do well, because there are materials where a localized repair genuinely is not the right answer.
Yes, and it is worth doing together. We repair appliances and floors, so the leak and the damage it caused are handled in one visit instead of coordinating two trades.
